Welcome to the Townsend River Breeze Inn
In late July 2018, the former Headrick`s Motel was acquired by David Girard and Hugh Schmidt and the name of the motel was changed to Townsend River Breeze Inn. Both of us have a long relationship with Townsend. We are professionals in the tourism industry and are striving to keep the “Southern Hospitality” alive!
We began extensive renovations to the existing buildings in late fall of 2018. Room and amenity upgrades will continue into early 2020. Rooms and wifi have been upgraded along with new furnishings and amenities. We’ve added new LVT wood flooring throughout, replaced the beds, all new linens, and upgraded to flat screen TV’s. Guest essentials such as coffee, tea, soaps, appliances, and fixtures have all been replaced with new and improved products.
A Brief History of the Inn
The former Headrick’s River Breeze Motel was built in 1972. Located next door to their home and across from the Little River, it had 6 rooms. Another 4 rooms and a pool was added a few years later. Then in 1999, the motel was extended up the hill above the existing building. Thirteen rooms were added, complete with terraces or balconies and another pool. The motel has always been owner operated. We intend to keep that tradition alive by offering clean, affordable and comfortable rooms, all with keeping the true spirit of “Southern Hospitality” in mind.
The Townsend River Breeze Inn now has twenty-three rooms from Single Kings to Single or Double Queens. There are three Kitchenettes, with two of them having adjoining rooms that make them great Family Suites. They all come well appointed with a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, flat screen TV’s, and free wifi. Relax in a comfortable rocking chair outside your room. Listen to the river and enjoy the mountain views, or cool off in one of our two sparkling pools.
For Groups, family reunions or you and lots of friends, we have a three bedroom house available on the property that can accommodate up to 12 people comfortably.
The Townsend River Breeze Inn is located directly adjacent to the Historical Townsend Trail where you are free to walk or bike through town and along the Little River. There are plenty of places to eat at nearby restaurants and the Little River offers young and old alike the opportunity to spend the day relaxing on a tubing trip tailored to your skill level. We’re conveniently located less than 1.5 miles away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Entrance and the Gateway to Historic Cades Cove. We have plenty of things to do here in Townsend and the surrounding area, we invite you to please check out the special section on our website, Things To Do.
Finally, the Townsend River Breeze Inn offers travelers a comfortable, enjoyable and restful stay in a quiet and peaceful setting. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but still close enough for a quick trip for your entertainment. Call us today to make your visit to “The Peaceful Side of the Smokies“ a memorable one.
We look forward to you joining us on your next trip,
David & Hugh
